We have collaborated with organizations and institutions to evaluate ongoing social change efforts, organizational health, and produce civic action and community transformation curricula and tool kits. We’ve worked with small to large organizations over short and long term periods at various levels of the organization.

Field Representative & Evaluation Consultant

Client: Stephen Lewis Foundation Project

Provide ongoing programmatic, financial, and project focused evaluations of small large HIV/AIDS and Gender Equality focused organizations funded by SLF across fifteen Sub-Saharan African countries. I have conducted evaluations in Kenya, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda.

Sharing best practices for the participation of marginalized groups in Health Sector Governance

Client: Health Poverty Action (HPA)

Designed and facilitated a knowledge exchange encounter/ training for HPA staff working on participatory health governance and health related issues in Northern Kenya, Rwanda, and Namibia. Developed the best practices and lessons that emerged from the training into an HPA best practices policy/advocacy publication for international dissemination.

Development of an organizational and Community Engagement Power Dynamics Toolkit

Client: Health Poverty Action (HPA)

Developed a ‘power dynamics’ theoretical framework and tool kit aimed at strengthening the ability of community health organizers to diagnose and strategize around social, economic, and political drivers of ill health.

Development of a Community Conversations toolkit to address Gender Based Violence (GBV)

Client: Health Poverty Action (HPA)

Created a civic deliberation model and facilitator’s guide to enhance community activists’ ability to engage targeted communities in consciousness raising dialogue focused on series of social determinants of health. The guide and tools focused on enhancing community’s capacity to address Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and advocate for sexual reproductive rights in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia.

Assessing the Nelson Mandela Foundations community dialogues programs relationship with local governance structures and development planning

Client: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Conducted an independent two month evaluation that critically explored the challenges local organizations face when attempting to advocate for the inclusion of community-generated AIDS prevention strategies into local municipal budget plans and strategy development in the Eastern Cape Province and four communities in the Mpumalanga Province.

Evaluating the effectiveness of Community Dialogues on key behavioral and attitudinal drivers of HIV transmission

Client: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Co-designed and implemented a two-year evaluation of the Nelson Mandela Foundations (NMF) community dialogues and HIV/AIDS prevention program in two provinces and eight communities throughout South Africa.

Men and Masculinities: Exploring the inclusion of a Men and Masculinities component in organizational gender mainstreaming and gender equality and women’s rights programs

Client: OXFAM

Developed strategic paper Men and Masculinities: issues for consideration for a development agency with recommendations to guide Oxfam Canada’s gender focused organizational development and transformation policies

Documenting Private Sector Responses to HIV/AIDS in Botswana: Best Practices and Lessons Learnt

Client: Botswana Business Coalition against AIDS (BBCA)

Worked collaboratively with a team of researchers and practitioners to conduct research documenting private sector HIV/AIDS policies and best practices in fifteen Botswana-based companies including national mining companies (Debswana) and major financial institutions (Barclays Bank).
